1. Participate in City or County Creative Minnesota Studies:

unnamedThe Creative Minnesota team is pleased to partner with Americans for the Arts to offer local arts economic impact studies based on the recently released study that found $1.2 billion in impact from the arts and culture in Minnesota. (See the studies at www.creativemn.org). For just $1500 a city, county or other geographic area may get an economic impact study of the arts and culture in your area this year that pulls from data already collected and economic models already created for the area.

The new studies must be drawn from data already collected. To see which organizations in your area were a part of the statewide Creative Minnesota report and so would be part of the new round of studies, download the statewide report at www.creativemn.org and look at the list of participating organizations on pages 23-26. The cities of Minneapolis, St. Paul and Grand Rapids have alreay signed up. The deadline for a letter of interest in the project is April 30. For more information contact staff@mncitizensforthearts.org.

2. You Are Invited to a Public Forum With NEA Chair Jane Chu on April 8 at 5:30 PM:


The Minnesota State Arts Board presents a public forum with Jane Chu, Chairman, National Endowment for the Arts on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the History Theatre, 30 East Tenth Street, Saint Paul.  Please join us in welcoming Chairman Chu to Minnesota. Hear her talk about her priorities for the National Endowment for the Arts and her vision for the arts in America. Following her remarks, participants will be able to engage in a question and answer session with the chairman.  Jane Chu was confirmed by the U. S. Senate in June 2014 as the eleventh chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. 3. Join a Group Insurance Policy Program for Minnesota Performing Arts Organizations


As a small and/or nomadic performance company, you may use different venues throughout the year for shows, rehearsals, readings, meetings, and fundraisers. While you focus on schedules, ticket costs and performers, making sure you have the right liability insurance may be last on your list.  But what if an audience member is harmed before, during or after one of your performances; trips on the stairs, eats food that makes them sick, or is injured by a falling set piece? Having liability coverage will protect you for lawsuits that may effectively put your company out of show business.

Most venues have their own liability insurance that may or may not cover you as a renter. By enrolling in liability insurance, you can stay focused on the success of your show and not the what-ifs. Liability insurance will cover you anywhere you go and provide you with a Certificate of Insured that can be issued to any venue at any time.

Minnesota Theater Alliance and Nonprofit Insurance Advisors at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits have partnered to offer a group insurance policy program for Minnesota performing arts organizations.
