Pottery Class in Fosston — Register Today

Lisa C. Mathieson will be teaching a pottery class

The FCLAA is excited to announce a class open to the community and taught by talented artist, Lisa Mathieson.  The class will be held on Friday, April 6, from 6:30-8-30 pm, at the Fosston High School art room.  There will be a nominal fee of $10 to learn, observe and create from this artist.  Lisa will bring up some porcelain and demonstrate different methods of working with clay including throwing on the wheel, also utilizing the new slab roller at the high school to make tiles.  If time permits, she will also teach anything else those in the class would like to learn.  Lisa’s website is www.lisacmathieson.com.

Lisa’s beautiful work will be displayed in the Sorenson Gallery from April 9-May 16, with a reception on Monday, April 9, from 5 PM-6:30 PM, where you can meet this talented artist and view many of her lovely pieces of ceramic and porcelain.  Refreshments will be served.

Warren MacKenzie Pottery Showcase

Exciting Pottery Event Coming to Stephen!

An exhibit of internationally renowned, 91-yr old, Minnesota potter Warren MacKenzie’s work is being brought to the Art Center in Stephen for a FREE event on Thursday, August 13 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm.  The Arts Center is located next to the Stephen/Argyle school at 500 School St, Stephen, Mn.

4:00 to 5:30 –  Mark Lambert will be doing a presentation which will include a slide show and a demonstration of some hand-building methods that will appeal to both the seasoned potter and to the beginner, as well as to those who wish to just “see how it’s done”!


5:30 – Refreshments and a light meal.

6:00 –  Open house reception. Time for anyone to visit with Mark Lambert about the pottery art form and to view the exhibit of Warren MacKenzie’s work.

7:00 – A wonderful documentary screening of the 91-yr. old potter at work in his shop and telling his story in his own words.


imagesThe Warren MacKenzie pottery will be on display at the Stephen Art Center.  On Friday August 14th from 9a – 11a and Monday August 17th from 2p – 4p the Art Center will be open for viewing.

Viewings will also be available by appointment only.  Please be sure to check the signage at the front of the building for further information.

If you have friends from elsewhere with an interest in pottery, please invite them to come! Come for the entire event or as much as works into your schedule!
