In it’s almost-30 years, the Lake Bronson Woodcarver’s Fest has always brought people together sharing the wonder of the Creative Arts. The 2012 International Woodcarver and Arts Festival at Lake Bronson State Park again brought artists, and lovers of creativity of all kinds together, both amateur and professional. Young and young-at-heart enjoyed the fest’s annual gathering for the Arts which were represented in many ways.
Wood sculptures of real and fantasy subjects filled the competition tables. But this fest also included workshops on quilting, painting with fabric, music making, cookie-ornament decorating, animal track casting, a fused-glass workshop, and, (yes) even wood carving.
Events specially planned relating to the history and nature of the area took place, including re-enactments in traditional garb of the past, and visits by the Monarch Man and chain-saw woodcarver, Joe Wavra. Entertainment was provided by vocal musical groups, including Scott Torgerson, the Overtones, and the Houskers with Ashley Hewitt.
The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is happy to have helped sponsor this annual summer event in a relaxed venue, offering many people the opportunity to enjoy the Arts locally.
