Northwest Minnesota Arts Council Traveling Art Exhibit Visits Roseau

The NWMAC sponsors an annual Traveling Art Exhibit, which visits northwest Minnesota communities throughout the year. The exhibit includes 15 original pieces of art by regional adult artists, chosen from works submitted for our annual juried exhibit. The exhibit is currently at the Roseau Public Library until March 1.

MollieRaeMiller-detailThe Traveling Mini Art Exhibit sponsored by the Northwest Regional Arts Council (NWMAC) has visited five regional libraries throughout the summer and autumn to date. It has now arrived in Roseau at the Public Library in Roseau City Center. This art exhibit is comprised of a small selection from NWMAC’s Regional Exhibit which was held in Middle River, Minnesota in April 2014, and showcases fifteen regionally made pieces of artwork.

SamanthaKraulikPeacefulLionThe Traveling Mini Art Exhibit includes original paintings, mosaic, drawings, pastel, prints, and clay pottery, including Jan Osborn’s adult-merit-award winning pen & ink drawing of the Settler’s Cabin at Old Mill State Park, and student Brooke Panzer’s horse-hair pottery, voted People’s Choice winner. Other subjects include wildlife, self-portraits, and objects to warm one’s memory, all wonderfully rendered with design, color, and creativity.

Northwest Minnesota Art Exhibition

Warren, Mn (February 2, 2014)- The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2014 Northwest Minnesota Art Exhibition will be Wednesday, April 16 through Sunday, April 27 in Middle River at the Middle River Community Center.  Every year, artists from all around the area participate in this event.

Last year’s show in Fosston was featured on Northwest Minnesota Arts Council’s website, Facebook page and was broadcast on YouTube. Over $1600.00 of prize money was awarded to participants.

Adult artists, high school and college students with permanent residency in the Minnesota counties of Kittson, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau are invited to participate.  Each participant can enter up to two pieces of artwork.  The work must have been completed within the last five years and must not have been accepted into a previous Northwest Minnesota Arts Exhibit.  Exhibit rules, restrictions and entry forms can be found on www.NorthwestMinnesotaArtsCouncil.org under the “Art Exhibit” tab or by contacting Mara at (218) 745-9111.  She can also be reached by email at mara@nwrdc.org if you have any questions or need more information.

Due to reduced funding at the Arts Council, there is a small entry fee.  The fee is $5.00 for students and $10.00 for adults.  This program is sponsored in part by funding to the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council by the McKnight Foundation and the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.  The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is one of eleven regional arts councils in the state.  All eleven councils work together with fiscal agents of the Minnesota State Arts Board to provide arts services, staffing, and grants.

Entries for the Northwest Minnesota Art Exhibition must be received by February 28, 2014.
