Classical Minnesota Public Radio’s Music for Learning portfolio of programs is designed to foster your students’ passion for classical music. It includes a collection of curricula and lesson plans, blog posts, music education news, classical music showcase for high school students, and a statewide musical instrument drive.  All the videos and curricula are tools designed to make a teacher’s workday more efficient and productive. The remarkable Class Notes Artists are a huge hit with schools of all sizes and locations.  This is a  go-to resource for materials that meet Minnesota K-12 music education standards. 4th Annual Winter Holiday Art Exhibit!

18 regional artists are participating this year from all over Northwest Minnesota.  There are paintings, ceramics, pottery, repurposed wood, wood carvings, photography and so much more!

Visitors will enjoy viewing hand-crafted ceramic tiles and pottery glazed to celebrate the season; watercolor, oil, and acrylic paintings expertly depicting family and holiday themes; photographs capturing sparkling winter moments; and even found objects styled into whimsical sculptures.

Exhibit#5a_120114An artists reception is scheduled for Friday, December 12th from 6pm-7pm at the gallery.   A drawing will be held for the participants to select a winner for a Community Supported Art Box, worth over $225.00.

This exhibit will run through January 11th, 2015.  Holiday hours are:Wednesday through Saturday, 1:00 pm to 9:00 p.m., and Sundays, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Art Council gallery and River Walk Artists shop & gallery are located in the River Walk Mall, 211 Demers Avenue, East Grand Forks, MN 56721, just north of Cabella’s and east of the Blue Moose Restaurant. Park in the large lot to the north, and come in the mall door: we are the first door on the right!

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE? 

There are two ways to submit your works:

1. You can fill the entry form at the end of this page.  (Fill in your name and contact information, title of your work, medium, and price, and upload a photo or link to your creative submission.)

2. You can E-MAIL your name and contact information, title of your work, medium, and price, and upload a photo or link to your creative submission to tmjacobson16@gmail.com.

How do I participate?

May I show more than one piece?

Yes! Each participant may submit up to two pieces for the Winter Holiday Exhibit!

When can I drop off my piece?  

Delivery dates ofapproved submissions at the gallery are Saturday and Sunday, November 29-30th. The gallery is located in the River Walk Mall in East Grand Forks (across from Cabela’s).

Can I have more time than that to drop off my piece? 

If you need more time, special arrangements can be made to drop of works on December 1st or 2nd by appointment. Call 218-965-4216, or email tmjacobson16@gmail.com.

When do I need to pick up my piece? 

Works must be collected by Sunday, January 11th between 2 and 5 p.m. In case of difficulty, or weather emergency, special arrangements may be made by calling 218-965-4216, or the Arts Council office: 218-745-9111.

Can my piece be sold?  

Yes. Include a price with your artwork title, medium, and your contact information. Interested customers will be asked to contact you directly to purchase your work, and may take the work at the end of the exhibit.

How many artists have shown work in the past? 

Over the past three years, artists from all over northwest Minnesota from Hallock to Ada to Roseau to Fosston, and from the Grand Forks area have participated in the annual Winter Holiday Exhibit. About thirty artists have shown their works, but the exhibit is open to all artists and performers.

Is there a cost to participate?

WntrHldayExh111412baNo! But you might be a winner! A CSA box of various artworks by local artists will be given to one lucky participant! All you need to do is be a part of the exhibit! If you have TWO pieces in the show, you have two chances to win! The winner will be selected on Friday evening, December 12th, 6:00 pm, at the Arts Council and River Walk Gallery in East Grand Forks.

Directions for completing the entry card:  

  1. Fill in the boxes in the top section legibly.
  2. You can enter up to two pieces of artwork. 
  3. There is NO ENTRY FEE.
  4. Please title your work. 
  5. Write your category and a general description (like black and white photo, or oil pastel, or original clay) in the following boxes. 
  6. For size, give the general dimensions of height, width, and depth.
  7. If you are interested in selling your work state the price, otherwise state NFS. 

     8.  An entry sample (photo) must be submitted for each piece listed. Make sure your samples are labeled with your name and title; or Entry A/Entry B if untitled.  You can e-mail work samples to tmjacobson16@gmail.com.

Designed specifically for girls ages 10 through high school graduation, allowing them to begin exploring the outside world and begin recognizing their own abilities, values and strengths in the process.

Guidelines for BOTH Grants

  • Each applicant must have an adult mentor (not an immediate family member or the activity provider) who will guide her through the application process.
  • Requests may not include transportation costs.
  • Former grant winners may not reapply.
  • Group applications will not be considered.
  • Applications must be completely filled out by both applicant and mentor.
  • All applications must be signed by a parent or guardian as well as by the girl.
  • The activity must begin after the date winners are notified – Spring round: May 15, 2014 and Fall round: November 15, 2014
  • Applications must be postmarked by October 15, 2014 for the Fall round.
  • Winners will be notified on or by November 15, 2014 for the Fall round.
  • The check for the activity will be made out to the organization providing the activity (as it is listed on the application).
  • All decisions are final.
  • Each grantee will be asked to tell us about her experience after completion of the activity. Mentors will also be asked to answer a few questions.
