ARTIST RECEPTION ON JUNE 18, 5PM-7PM
The Sorenson Gallery, located at the Fosston Library Arts Center, is currently showing beautiful stained glass mosaic pieces created by artist, Dee Dee Narum. Her exhibit will be up through the end of June and can be seen during regular library hours. Dee Dee’s mosaics are available for purchase.
There will be a reception on June 18th, from 5pm-7pm, where you can enjoy some refreshments and meet Dee Dee. Dee explains how she got started creating stained glass mosaics, “After taking a traditional stained glass class, I had a large amount of left over small bits and pieces of glass and someone suggested mosaics.
I love working in anything that is “bits and pieces”, that is why stained glass mosaics is a favorite medium. I love the stained glass look with the flexibility of mosaics. I’m able to repurpose old windows, frames and doors to use as a base.
I’ve been working in mosaics for over a decade and I never get tired of the new ideas I can find.
My bits and pieces love also extends to quilting which I see as a very similar style in a different medium.”
You are invited to attend the Fosston Children’s Theater’s production of Mary Poppins JR, a musical based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney Film.
JUNE 27 & 28
The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”
There is no admission fee to attend the play, and seats will be on a first come first, serve basis. Freewill offerings will be accepted and are greatly appreciated.
Directed by Abby Pearson
MARY POPPINS JR is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
Join us as we welcome Annie Fitzgerald to the Fosston Library Arts Theater on March 2 at 7:00 pm!
General Admission tickets are $10 and can be purchased in person at Generations for Him in Fosston. Out of town guests can purchase tickets online at www.fclaa.org (select “Annie Fitzgerald Tickets” under the Events tab).
Annie Fitzgerald has been described by Jamsphere as “a blend of Tori Amos’ intellectual appeal, Sarah McLachlan’s mystical charm and Edie Brickell’s baroque spirit.” Honored by the Songwriters Hall of Fame as an artist to watch, Fitzgerald released her second album You & Me & the Sun on June 1st, 2018. Produced by Danny O’Brien (The Farewell Circuit, Dem Yuut), the album finds Fitzgerald joining gifted musicians and shaping a textured pop sound mixed with the raw vitality of rock-and-roll. Since her first release In Good Time, Fitzgerald spent time a part of the NYC Indie scene, started a family, and welcomed a move back to her home state of Minnesota and a newfound sense of space to create. You & Me & the Sun explores connection, vulnerability, love, and sparks in the span of time navigating the balance between motherhood & her life as a songwriter.
