Equality and Respect for All Videos — Express Yourself!

Do the words

Equality and Respect for All

stir a desire in you to speak up?

The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is looking for short video segments to use in our upcoming exhibit this summer.  It’s super easy to participate!  Original songs, poetry, acting, dance, spoken word, whatever expresses “what you feel and think” related to human rights and your own artistic expression.  Get outdoors, shoot some video, make a statement.  Be part of our exhibit!

Easy, easy, easy steps…

  1. Create your video on your smart phone or other device.  Optimal length is 5-10 seconds.  Max 2 minutes.
  2. Save it to Dropbox  here  or
  3. Google Drive  here
  4. Or email as an attachment to nwartscouncil@gmail.com if very short.

Here’s a tutorial to help you with the uploading process — click on the link: Tutorial. Please let us know if you need assistance — we are happy to help.

5. Let us know that your video exists by emailing Lance at    nwartscouncil@gmail.com. Include your name, your community, and the video title.

We will select thirty videos by June 1 to initially be part of our showcase in East Grand Forks at our gallery in the Riverwalk  movie theater mall.  Videos that are submitted by June 30 will be added over time to the exhibit. The show will be up from June 22, 2017 until a reception on Saturday, August 19 during the Art and Wine Walk.  All participants will be invited to attend, greet the public, and take a group picture.  We already have sixty people creating 12 x 12 canvases to be on the walls related to this theme!

Please let us know if you have questions! We can’t wait to see what you’ll create!

Calling Northwest Minnesota! Equality & Respect for All Artist Workshop Series

Please Join Us At Our

Equality & Respect for All

Art Workshop Series

Ties That Bind by Ekua Holmes
The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is proud to partner with regional artists Trey Everett & Janet Johnson to host a series of art workshops that will inspire and promote
Equality and Respect for All.

In a response to recent and ongoing events occurring on local, national and international levels, NWMAC is calling our region to participate in this series of workshops as a platform to let Human Rights voices be heard. We are proud to sponsor these workshops and remind everyone of their importance and equality, despite differences in background, race, gender and sexual orientation. Our workshops will be a space to create art that will revolve around our theme of Equality and Respect for All. We are striving to inspire people to process current events through artistic expression. Please join us!

Many art materials and a 12″ x 12″ canvas will be provided, although you will want to bring your scissors and painting supplies if you wish to paint or cut, to work quickly.   You also may want to bring snapshots or images that are important to you, to include in your piece.  If you finish your piece you will leave it with the facilitator, if you bring your canvas home, you need to deposit $10.00.  The workshops will be led by artists Trey Everett and Janet Johnson. No unattended children.  Only adults and very engaged young adults, please. You don’t need to consider yourself an artist to attend!

The artworks will exhibit at the NWMAC Gallery in East Grand Forks, opening June 22, 2017. A public reception will be held during the Art & Wine Walk on August 19, starting at 1:00 P.M.
