Arna Rennan to Perform in Concert Oct 14 in Fosston

Arna Rennan to Perform in Concert on October 14 at 2:00PM at the Fosston Library Arts Theater

Welcome to a world of joyful dance music, the sound of ballads from hundreds of years ago, and the stories of trolls, giants and the underground world in nature. Arna has lived in the mountains where these beliefs were alive and well, as well as studied in depth the music and culture at the Institute of Folk Culture in Telemark. As a child of immigrants, her experience imparts insight into the values and traits that are woven into our identity as descendants of immigrants in the Midwest.

Arna is an experienced performer who carries on a conversation with her audience, often responding to questions and requests of certain songs and melodies. Being both an old soul and young at heart, her performances are easily adapted to all ages.

Her Performance of “Treasures Left Behind”

Featuring Ballads from the Middle Ages, Arna brings to life the sound and sentiment of Nordic people as they lived hundreds of years ago. She sets the scene by telling the story of the song first.  They are from the fantastic world of spells cast, justice served, powerful kings, underground elves, love and longing. Arna sings, plays the “langeleik” a northern European dulcimer and the overtone flute. She attaches dancing figures to her fingers with string as a grandmother would have entertained her children. These are beautiful and captivating stories and songs for the young and old.
