Teaching Artist Training in Creative Aging July 29 & 30
Aroha Philanthropies is delighted to present a creative aging training for Minnesota teaching artists on July 29 and 30, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This free event, co-sponsored by the Minnesota State Arts Board, will take place in Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Lunch and parking will be provided.
The training is open to all artistic disciplines and will equip teaching artists to design successful, effective sequential arts education programs for older adults. Organized by a committee of Minnesota teaching artists experienced in the field of creative aging, this training will include an exploration of ageism, a hands-on deconstruction of a quality skill building creative aging workshop, and tangible ideas on how to include social engagement into all artistic mediums in creative aging programs.
Additionally, participants will share resources on creating and identifying job opportunities in the field. The event is open to teaching artists who are new to the field as well as those who are experienced in creative aging, and will provide the opportunity for teaching artists to share knowledge and questions. The training will be led by a diverse selection of Minnesota teaching artists experienced in creative aging and facilitated by Lifetime Arts. Please note that this training is not designed to provide training on health and wellness programs or focused on arts therapies for older adults.
They will make every effort to ensure a welcoming space for all registrants to be able to meaningfully participate. Contact Sarah Drebelbis at firstname.lastname@example.org or
