Hennepin County Public Health Department
Hennepin County Public Health is seeking proposals for artwork to display during October to December 2017 and during 2018.
Hennepin County Public Health incorporates and integrates public art on the 3rd floor of the Health Services Building, 525 Portland Avenue, Minneapolis. Most of the artwork is hung, but there are horizontal surfaces which can support three-dimensional works. While there are some works in the department’s permanent collection, the Art in the Workplace Committee coordinates rotating exhibits of approximately three months in length. The space is a secure employee-only area. Approximately 300 Public Health employees work in the building. The goal of the gallery is to humanize and add warmth to the work space, stir creativity among the employees, and celebrate the variety of cultures that have found expression through art.
Artists who are selected will be allowed to make it known that some works are for sale. No commissions will be required on any sales.
A Walker display system is in place to hang items on the wall. Artists are responsible for bringing in items pre-wired to hang on the wall.
Artists who are interested in being considered, should send:
1) an e-mail to that effect to firstname.lastname@example.org;
2) a description of the types of work in the proposed exhibit;
3) a resumé or brief biography ; and
4) three .jpg images or a link to an online gallery showing items included in the exhibit and listing their title, year, media, and size.
If selected, a full artist’s statement and other descriptive material will be requested.
