The Thief River Falls Area Community Theater presents theater with drinks, laughs and appetizers with its production of Sylvia, a romantic comedy written by A.R. Gurney, directed by Jane Anderson. Performances are scheduled for February 11, 13 and 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Eagles Club in Thief River Falls. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.; appetizers must be ordered by 6:45, so guests are asked to arrive early.
The TRFACT is attempting to incorporate new elements into this experience for their audiences. While not a traditional “dinner theater,” guests will enjoy a selection of appetizers, a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), and dessert at intermission, which are all included in the price of admission. Choices of appetizers include many flavors of wings, pub style pretzels, stromboli bites, or spicy cheese curds.
The subject of the play is “Sylvia,” a dog, the couple who adopts her, and the comedy that results. Sylvia is a love story, or at least a story about a man’s relationship with one of those magical animals people in stories so often meet just when they’re at a troubling crossroads in life, an animal that is a guide to finding the best in ourselves.
Cast members of this local production include Sherry Knott as Kate, Stephen Moeller as Greg, Leah Wattenphul as Sylvia, and Scott Pream as Tom, Phyllis and Leslie.
Tickets are available at Pennington Main, Pennington Square and at Digikey’s East Entrance during business hours. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door each evening for an additional fee.
