River Walk Artists, LLC, is pleased to announce the award winners of our 2015 Juried Exhibit in East Grand Forks which included twenty-five pieces by eighteen accomplished regional artists.
Juror Gary Stegman, an art instructor for over 22 years, writes in his statement to the artists the words of Robert Motherwell, “Art is an experience, not an object.” He adds that judges “look for artwork that exhibits great skill, they look for artists that are plowing new ground. They are looking for voice. This show is dripping with these ideas. Bravo to the artists and the work here. Great work is being produced in this region. This show has technical mimesis, pure abstraction, a walk through art history and historic approaches. The show has voice, it has story.”
First Prize was awarded to Dave Bruner of Grand Forks, ND for his photograph, A View From the Past. Second Prize was awarded to Irene Bertils of Crookston, MN, for her pastel work, Seeking. The People’s Choice Award was given to Brenda Baumer of East Grand Forks, MN for her acrylic painting Beyond the Fire.
