Forecast Public Art has some pretty good grant opportunities for Minnesota-based emerging and mid-career artists in the development and creation of new public artwork in Minnesota.

$5,000 to support public art-related professional development for MN-based mid-career artists. Proposed work can assist with the development of a project idea or involve participating in activities that will help applicants further their careers as public artists nationally (residencies, apprenticeships, conferences, travel, study, creation of project models or prototypes.
$2,500 to support emerging artists in public art-related research and development or with the planning phase of freely accessible public art installation or activity in Minnesota. Activities could range from research to planning, community dialogues, site or budget development, or model building.
$8,000 to support the creation of a temporary or permanent public artwork anywhere in the state of Minnesota by an emerging Minnesota-based artist. This grant is funded through the Visual Arts category of the Jerome Foundation. Projects may be in any form or discipline, including performance, dance, storytelling, photography, film, sculpture, painting, etc., as long as there is a visual focus.
