Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is pleased to announce our 2015 Annual Spring Art Exhibit is almost ready to be unveiled. This year, the art exhibit will be at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Exhibition dates are April 22-May 4.
Art pieces from over 100 professional, amateur and student artists streamed in from around our 7 county service region.
Students submitted art work from Crookston, Greenbush-Middle River, Goodridge, Grygla, Badger, Climax-Shelly and Norman County West. Other schools involved include Thief River Falls, Kittson Central, Marshall County Central, Fisher, and MTS Minnesota.
We expect to have a total of 100 individual artists with over 150 art pieces in this years show! We are very excited for you to see what our local artists have accomplished!
Each artist is up for a cash award, as in previous years. Exhibit cash award winners will be chosen while the exhibit is on display by a qualified juror. They will be recognized and receive their award at the Annual Spring Art Exhibition Reception, May 4th.
We will have recognition for our special award winners who were selected from a pool of publicly nominated candidates. The 2015 Star Artist of the Year is Margaret Anderson of Lancaster, Minnesota. The 2015 Arts Advocate of the Year are Jim and Jan Strandlie of Thief River Falls, Minnesota. The 2015 Northwest Star Artist is Karen Envick of Roseau, Minnesota.
Also on May 4th, we will have a special guest from Mn Citizens for the Arts, Sheila Smith. She will be discussing the Creative Mn report which was released in February of this year. Come out and see how the arts are impacting local communities in Northwest Minnesota! Sheila Smith will be speaking at 5:15pm.
Make plans to join us!
