Minnesota Citizen for the Arts Arts Advocacy Day is coming soon! In fact, it’s just around the corner on February 19, 2015! And better yet…IT’S FREE!
3 year old Miles Thinks YOU should go to Arts Advocacy Day too!
If it’s so easy to register that even a 3 year old can do it…you can too!
Whether you are a visual artist, singer, dancer, tuba player, member of a board, arts administrator or student, all arts advocates are welcome. A strong showing from every corner of the state helps make sure that every legislator gets to meet with an arts advocate from their own area. They say “no legislator understands an issue until it’s explained to him by a constituent.”
Next Two Years of Arts Funding Are on the Line
Past Arts Advocacy Days have resulted in great gains for the arts…like the passage of the Legacy Amendment in 2008 that tripled arts funding and which we are working now to protect. The legislature decides now how much arts funding there will be for the next two years. We must protect the gains we have made, and to prevent, as has been attempted in the past, diversion of Legacy Arts funding away from the Minnesota State Arts Board and Regional Arts Councils.
