Twentieth Anniversary – Probing Special Issues
THE RAVEN is grateful for the opportunities provided by the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund. The Legacy Grant, in particular, is vital to the artists of Northwest Minnesota, including us. THE RAVEN continues publication from a rural township in Roseau County based on grant funding. In turn, we donate hundreds of RAVEN issues to university libraries, historical society collections, seniors citizen homes, hospital and clinic waiting rooms, community centers, cafes, and restaurants. Readers reciprocate calling THE RAVEN “Out of the ordinary” – “Entertaining” – “Engaging” – and “Unique.”
THE RAVEN, in tribute to its 20th anniversary year (2014) is publishing extraordinary issues that disclose its artistic evolution from its crude beginnings as an eight-page, black-and-white, copier-printed “zine” (as defined by Wikipedia), to its current twenty-page, innovative format. Thanks to a 2011 Legacy Grant through the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council, publication rolls off a state-of-the-art digital color printer. Issues include seldom-heard stories of artistic perseverance and invention.
A four-issue subscription to THE RAVEN is $20. includes 4- original artwork postcards, and an XL RAVEN t-shirt. Please visit The Raven’s website: theravenjournal.com o
